Public Service Gunnouncement

The weekend is a magical time. The weekend can be a savior, a breath of fresh air to keep your sanity in check, and a refuge from the monotony of the week at regular. The weekend can also be a harsh, crushing reality, as your shackles remain fastened to the inevitability of work-in-progress. I wish the former for all of you out there.

Either way you’ll hopefully have a little time set aside for yourself this weekend, because we may be experiencing a golden age of free gaming opportunities. There are a slew of games that have just been made playable to everyone for a short time; so if you can tear yourself away from Dark Souls 3 for a few minutes, and you’re a fan of the shoot-bangs, get ready to siphon the bandwidth away from any other chumps you live with. Dark Souls 3 Japanese Launch Trailer

In a perfect world there would be no console wars, Nintendo might actually know how to do business, and localization would be simultaneous across the globe. But since I still don’t know what the hell Amiibo are for, I suppose it’s not a perfect world, and I suppose it’s fair that Japan get a head start on FromSoftware’s final entry in the venerable Souls series. Considering that they built the thing. Continue reading Dark Souls 3 Japanese Launch Trailer

Them’s Fightin’ Herds – The Animal Punching Game

Don’t worry, the animals are punching EACH OTHER, so it’s okay. Them’s Fightin’ Herds is a 2-D fighting game that stars a cast of fluffy warriors with hooves. If it looks a tad familiar that’s because the developer, Mane 6, originally developed this game as a free-to-play tribute to the meme-flexing cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Originally known as Fighting is Magic, it looked promising, even to those not ponyliterate. Unfortunately, like most beautiful things that can never be, the threat of legal backlash halted production on Fighting is Magic indefinitely. Project Knoxville – The Battle Royale of the American South.

The city of Knoxville is a small place. It’s a simple town with simple tastes, such as pubs, parks, possums, and free-for-all murder games, apparently. One of Microsoft’s developers, Press Play, is working on a game that will satiate your almost constant need to betray the ones you love. Dragon’s Dogma finally coming to PC

More dragons? And so soon? Apparently Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is going to be released on Windows PC  and Steam in January 2016. It’ll be priced at $29.99 and feature “stunningly high-res graphics and improved fidelity.”

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen was the enhanced version of the base game that included new quests, items, fixes and all prior DLC. It seems like a pretty decent value if they make good on the visual upgrade. Finally a chance for PC users to try out this once console constrained gem.
